I recently heard about a good business opportunity in the Charleston County area. RoadWise is Charleston County’s name for the portion of the activities funded by the half-cent sales tax which goes toward improving highways and drainage. The M/W/DBE Program seeks to involve women and minority owned disadvantaged business enterprises in the design and construction of RoadWise projects. I picked up a packet of forms and instructions that a business would need to become certified as a DBE (disadvantaged business enterprise) to qualify for the program. The packet will be here in the Business Vertical File or you can check the SC Department of Transportation’s DBE site, http://www.scdot.org/doing/dbe.shtml, for copies of the packet. If you’d like more information about the M/W/DBE Program itself, contact Margaret Rush at (843) 329-0050, ext. 2508.
