Finding Local Business News

We are lucky in the Charleston area in that we are blessed with several good specialized sources for local and regional business news.

Each Monday, the Post and Courier publishes the Business Review feature. You can catch up on the week’s local business news, new staff announcements for local businesses, economic trends, and even upcoming conventions and meetings, as well as find classified ads for commercial real estate and employment. Pick up this pull-out section from the paper, or find it online at Of course, the P & C also has a daily Business section covering regional, national and international business news, which can also be read online at

The Charleston Regional Business Journal is a bi-weekly newspaper published by Setcom Media, Inc. Loaded with area business news, this publication is a must-read for anyone interested in the local business climate. The Journal also produces nine special supplements each year on topics like Event Planning and Philanthropy, which list important organizations involved with each market. Their website offers an archive of previous stories and offers other services such as reprints or back issues of the paper and even an online sales leads or data search subscription services.

The South Carolina Business Review is a radio program which airs from 7:52 to 8:00 A.M. every weekday morning on 89.3 FM, one of SC Educational Radio’s Classical NPR News stations. Host Mike Switzer discusses topics of interest to local SC business owners. Check out recent topics and links of interest on their web page at

Although it doesn’t air in the local TV market, Carolina Business Review is a great source for regional business news throughout North and South Carolina. Luckily for us, streaming web videos of all of their past episodes since 2005 are available online at their website,

We promise that if you regularly read, watch, or listen to these sources of local business news, you’ll agree that it is time well spent!
